Our archival holdings represent the work of dance artists, companies and events related to theatrical dance dating back to the nineteenth century. These include choreographic notes, moving images, programs, oral histories, sets, props, costumes, personal correspondence, house programs and other artifacts illustrating a dynamic and rich Canadian theatrical dance legacy. These exhibitions expand on DCD's "museum without walls" concept and bring the collection to a wider audience.

This component of the DCD web site offers images, brief biographies and content descriptions for dance artists' portfolios within the Dance Collection Danse archives.

Providing fascinating glimpses of Canadian dance history, these pages also serve as finding aids for dance researchers. Pages in History is an on-going project and artists' portfolios will continue to be added so be sure to visit again.

Following are the current Pages in History: Maud Allan, Kay Armstrong, Cynthia Barrett, Marion Errington, Evelyn Geary, Saida Gerrard, Gweneth Lloyd, Jean Macpherson.

This component of the DCD web site offers an in-depth view of a selection of Canada's dance artists and a collection of cultural histories. Exhibitions contain a variety of images, biographical text, multimedia and memorabilia. As part of Dance Collection Danse's continuing effort to digitize its archives, each exhibition provides fascinating glimpses of Canadian dance history.

This is an ongoing program and exhibits will continue to be added so be sure to visit again.

Following are the current ENCORE! ENCORE! Web Exhibitions: David Earle, Nancy Lima Dent, Judy Jarvis, Françoise Sullivan, Theatrical Dance in Early Vancouver, Alison Sutcliffe and Jean Renaud.

Dance Collection Danse depends on your support for its museum without walls. Our website receives 100,000 visitors each month. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone gave $1 so that we can continue to share Canada’s dance stories?
