Kaija Pepper (Curator)
Dance writer, teacher and journalist Kaija Pepper is the author of The Dance Teacher: A Biography of Kay Armstrong (2001) and Theatrical Dance in Vancouver: 1880s-1920s (2000). Her essays have been included in The Responsive Body: A Language of Contemporary Dance edited by Brian Webb (2002) and in Right to Dance/Dancing for Rights edited by Naomi Jackson (2004). She is a dance critic for the Globe & Mail and her quarterly “View from Vancouver” has run in Dance International for over a decade. She also contributes to many other North American dance magazines and journals. Pepper leads writing workshops as well as lecturing on dance history and critical thinking.

The owner of Believe It Design Works, Michael has built Web sites for a variety of companies, foundations, societies and individuals. Currently, he is the Web master of record for Theatre Direct Canada, The Society for Canadian Dance Studies/Société des études canadiennes en danse, Dancing Our Stories and Dance Collection Danse. For DCD he has designed the main site, the Encore! Encore! Exhibition pages, the Canadian Dance Family Tree Project and the sister site to the publication Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie: Reconstructing/La Reprise de Fifteen Heterosexual Duets by/de James Kudelka. Most recently he designed sites for Cindy Ashton Sings, Theatremanation and The Event Bureau. Also a professional actor, Michael’s primary focus is building sites for arts-related clients.
