POH12DEintheatre1Existence is miraculous.

We're spinning around upside down in the middle of nowhere -- we don't know what we are, why we are, or where we are -- but we might learn who we are. How then could anyone have an ordinary moment?

The arts are about identity -- the identity of the artist and the heightened sense of self that an art form offers. If we witness a moment of truth, whether we like it or not, we learn something about ourselves.

Character is everything. It is the essential element that makes every life not a book, but a ten-volume set! The arts nourish character, invite expression of the uniqueness we each possess.

When I'm at the theatre I don't think of myself as the audience; I am my singular self with my own memories, my own fears, my own dreams. I am alive in the experience and I have the courage to be there because many other unique individuals are around me.

There is not one appropriate response to a Dancetheatre David Earle performance. Each person will enter into the experience to the degree they are able in the moment. There is nothing to 'get'. What you see and how it makes you feel is everything.

The performers feel deeply about the significance of your presence. They too come alone with their memories, fears and dreams to give substance to this miracle we all share.
