VIEW TRANSCRIPTS OF LETTERS

The following correspondence about such a party comes from American director and patron Lincoln Kirstein, the man responsible for bringing George Balanchine to the United States. Also interesting is the response that Alison Sutcliffe began to draft on the reverse. We see her edits and short forms for the Jooss-Leeder School (J-L School) and Martha Graham (M.G.). Dear Miss Sutcliffe:
Thank you so very much for your extremely kind letter. As you probably have learned by this time, our Toronto date has been postponed until later on.
The Caravan would love to come to your house, if it would not be too much trouble. We are rather a small army, however, and I hate to impose on anybody. Ruthanna [Boris] is not any longer with us, but Ruby is, and I am sure she would love to stay.
Yours very sincerely
Lincoln Kirstein
